Admiral Ra'Kaat

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Vigilant.

Position Vigilant Task Force Commander
Technical Specialty Command, Fleet / Starship Operations
Secondary Specialty Starship Tactics
Side Arm BlastTech DL 22 Light Blaster Pistol
Favorite Beverage Isotain'k Wine
Physical Description Mon Calamari Male, Salmon-colored skin, age 56 standard years, height 1.54 m, weight 134 kg

Bio:

Ra'Kaat was born on the water world of Calamari. Since birth, he knew he wanted to command starships travelling around the galaxy, and his entire early life was dedicated to this end. He graduated top of his class at the Mon Cal Fleet Academy and immediately became a rising star in the Calamari Defensive Navy. During this time he made few friends, earning the reputation as a stubborn, tenacious commander who got the job done no matter what.

Ra'Kaat was at the helm of the Calamari Defensive Craft Starwave when the Empire arrived. He was among the first Mon Cal to meet the new species, and one of the first to become distrusting when the Imperials put a "defensive fleet" of their own in orbit. Then, one of his friends warned him of an impending attack - Calamari's new "friends" were hoping to enslave it. Taking the messenger with him, Ra'Kaat managed to escape with the Starwave moments before the Empire launched a full-fledged attack that leveled the defenses of the watery world. Ra'Kaat and his crew ran to the fledgling Rebel Alliance and immediately joined, offering their ship, their services, and their lives to the cause. Ra'Kaat quickly moved up the ranks of the new navy to Captain, and was granted command of the Mon Cal cruiser Liberty after just a short time.

The new captain quickly earned a reputation as a "hard-head," and made a few other key people angry enough to send him and his vessel to the Outer Rim where he's stumbled across more trouble than expected. Ra'Kaat knows of his reputation within Alliance command, and has decided to use it to his advantage. He has chosen to make his new home the best Calamari Cruiser in the Alliance fleet, using the "rejects" from the Alliance - pilots, officers, troops, technicans, and soldiers who don't fit the usual military bill, those who are "troublemakers" to their old commands, or the ones nobody thought would live very long. He doesn't let on that he's happy about his assignment or proud of his crew, choosing to ride those who serve under him to the edge and beyond. But, if the truth were ever discovered, then his crew would know there is no where else in the galaxy he'd rather be.

Captain Trevin Evert

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Vigilant.

Position Captain MC-80B Vigilant
Technical Specialty Capital Ship Operations and Tactics
Secondary Specialty Military History
Side Arm Nail Gun
Favorite Beverage Corellian Ale
Physical Description Corellian Human male, age approximately 52 years old; brown eyes, salt-and-pepper hair; height 1.57 m, weight 120 kg

Bio:

Before he knew how to walk, Trevin Evert knew how to fly. Raised by a Corellian Defense Force pilot, Evert always knew that he'd have a starship under him, no matter where he went. After gradutating with honors from the Imperial Naval Academy at Corulag, Evert found himself living his dream: a young husband (he married his home sweetheart Opheli after graduation) serving on a peacekeeping starship (the Victory-class Star Destroyer Triumphant), and seeing the galaxy.

The charm quickly wore off. As a bridge officer, Evert witnessed firsthand the brutality of the Empire, specifically when directed towards alien races. The Triumphant took part in subjugations at Kashyyyk, Calamari, and Alzoc III. The supressions sickened the young officer. He soon decided to act quickly, and during his next shore leave took his young wife and two young sons and defected to the Alliance.

Evert's natural (some say unnatural) penchant for starship tactics soon landed him in the captain's chair of the Corellian Corvette Tantive III. He earned something of a bad reputation as each of his successive commands was eventually shot out from under him, but he always seemed to carry the day. Moving from the Tantive to the escort carrier Freedom Flight, then the Nebulon-B Escort Frigate Vision, Evert eventually landed the con of the MC80 Liberty.

Evert has spent fifteen years in the Alliance, and has given more for its cause than any other individual aboard the Liberty. His sons (he eventually had a third) were all killed in action - two were fighter pilots and the youngest was a signal officer. His wife also died, during the Imperial annihilation of the Rebel safeworld New Alderraan.

Evert is a cagey old officer, who views his crew as his family. His shrewd maneuvers and gut-instinct tactics have saved the ship, and the Wing, more often than anyone can remember. His age is getting the better of him, however, and he walks with a touch more difficulty than he did in his prime. The fire in his heart keeps him going, however, and the fire in his heart keeps the Liberty intact.

Trevin's unique sidearm was a gift from one of his late sons that was taken from the body of a pirate leader in the outer rim. The weapon is a heavily modified rivet gun formerly used for reattaching hull plating to starships. Since the weapon is no longer intended to be used in the vacuum of space the oxygen supply and pump are no longer required for the weapon to function. This greatly reduces the weapon's weight and size. The magazine accepts 3 standard hull rivets. Although the weapon's effective range is limited, its armor piercing abilities cannot be surpassed.

Lt. Commander C'our Dentran

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force
Attached to Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Vigilant.

Position Chief Intelligence Officer
Technical Specialty Military Intelligence
Secondary Specialty Counter-Intelligence
Side Arm Bothan Engineering Corporation RS-4 Palmgun
Favorite Beverage Uvena Sour
Physical Description Male Kullivian, brown fur (w/black stripes), yellow eyes; 34 standard years old; height 1.73 m; weight 95 kg.

Bio:

C'our Dentran was born on the planet Kulliver, homeworld of the humaniod-feline race known as the Kullivains. Orphaned at an early age by a terrorist attack on an Imperial garrison (his parents were participating in the attack), Dentran was adopted by a pair of Bothans. He grew up as a Bothan child would, participating in their heritage, ceremonies, and usual activities.

His physicality and his tutleage made him the perfect spy. Other Bothans he came into contact with regarded him as less than capable, and he often used this prejudice to his advantage. Soon his adoptive parents joined the majority of their race in enlisting with the Rebel Alliance, and Dentran immediately volunteered as well.

He became an Intelligence field agent, and was the second-quickest individual to become a "23-er" in Alliance history. Since he was being forceable retired from the field, he requested a transfer to a key intelligence position. Unfortunately, he was vying for the position against an individual with higher contacts, and instead was reassigned as the CIO aboard the "black sheep" starship Liberty.

Initially resentful of his new assignment, Dentran now wouldn't be transferred to be Chief of Alliance Intelligence. He fully enjoys living on the warship and interacting with the soldiers on board - besides, he's already got most of the common rooms bugged and, at any given time, knows 99.5% of the scuttlebutt onboard. Dentran is not the typical "paranoid intell agent," however, and is respectful of and respected by the rest of the crew.

While he would prefer to be a field agent, he knows the data he collects and interprets is crucial to the Liberty's operations, and he enjoys attempting to out-guess the Empire. He has displayed a remarkable penchant for correctly assimilating data, and his input into planning operations is often the difference between victory and defeat.

Lt. Commander Banarj

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Vigilant.

Position Chief Medical Officer
Technical Specialty Medicine, Surgery
Secondary Specialty Xenobiology
Side Arm None
Favorite Beverage Thretan Alluive
Physical Description Mon Calamari male, aqua-colored skin; 58 standard years old; height 1.55 m, weight 155 kg

Bio:

Banarj was raised to cherish life on his home planet of Calamari, and it is a lesson he's taken to heart. An avowed pacifist, Banarj has nevertheless sworn to aid any wounded being he encounters to the best of his ability. Such practice and dedication quickly led him to prominance as the head doctor on the floating city of Redcoral R'geen. It was in this occupation that he was the first Mon Cal to learn of the disaster that was quickly approaching.

Shortly after the Empire arrived at Calamari, Banarj was going about his daily business when he was called into surgury. The hospital had received a badly wounded human that was in desprate need of medical attention. Banarj went to assist the the human, but the man was past saving. Shortly before the man died, he pressed a datacard into Banarj's hand. The man passed on, and Banarj, his interest piqued, read the card.

Initally, he thought it was a hoax. The card warned that the Empire was planning an immenent attack on Calamari. Unsure of what to do, Banarj took the message to an old friend - Ra'Kaat. The pair had barely read over the message again when the attack began.

Banarj fled to the Alliance that day with Ra'Kaat, and has stayed by his comrade's side since then. He is one of the few people on board the Liberty to know how and what Ra'Kaat usually thinks. Banarj himself believes totally in the cause of the Rebellion, and although he won't lift a gun to aid them, he will continue to tirelessly aid their bodies, minds, and spirits in whatever way he can in their fight for freedom.

Studied quantum mechanics and flight design at the University on Roche and worked on several starship design projects before the Empire's distrust of aliens caused her security clearances to be revoked.

When Peter Simmons was given command of Rogue Squadron, Marion was hand picked by Admiral Ackbar to head the Rogue Flight Operations support team.

Sergeant Major Tuttle Dundee

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Vigilant.

Technical Specialty Supply and Procurement
Combat Specialty Ground Assault (103rd Combat Assault Division ret.)
Side Arm Standard issue blaster
Favorite Beverage Falasian Mist
Physical Description Human male, age 56, 185c, 97kg, brown hair, brown eyes

Bio:

Three times decorated in the army of the Old Republic, Tuttle Dundee enlisted with the Rebels during the siege of the Bliss system. A career military officer, joining the Rebel Alliance was the first political decision he had ever made in his life but the excess of the Imperial Stormtroopers on Bliss forced Tuttle to forgo a mindless devotion to duty and try to strike a blow for freedom in the galaxy.

Injured on Hoth, he was transferred from Ground Assault training to Supply and Procurement where he became the quartermaster for the Mon Cal Cruiser Liberty. Taking a great liking to the pilots of Rogue and Buccaneer when an opening in the unit's Admin section opened he applied for and received immediate transfer.

Cutter

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Vigilant.

Technical Specialty Multi-species Medical Specialist
Physical Description Modified 2-1B Medical Droid

Bio:

The 2-1B Medical Surgical Droid known as "Cutter" first came to the Alliance five months before the battle of Yavin. It was part of a cargo of medical droids intercepted by the Alliance before that battle, and was assigned to surgical duty on board the front-line cruiser Crusade. It served in several tours on board the Crusade, eventually evacuating with the rest of the crew when it was destroyed in the Porthello Incident.

From that evacuation, 2-1B-C5 was assigned to the Rebel base on Briggia. Again, the droid served in an outstanding capacity within Briggia base, saving many wounded solider's lives. However, due to the terrible nature of war, several troopers had to be "let go" while in the surgical unit. This led to C5's supervisors deleting its incapacity to kill. However, they did put in several safeguards that would stop the droid from becoming violent.

Due to the tenuous position of the Alliance and its forward bases, Briggia base fell under an evacuation order. C5 stayed behind in the medbay, prepping its final passengers for evac, until it found itself abandoned. It was found by a medic on his way out, as he took a final sweep through the base. Unfortunately, Imperial troops had breached the base's perimeter and cut the droid down as the pair made its escape.

C5 was cut in half from the trooper's fire. The feedback short from the shots fried some of his programming; specifically, his safeguards against violence. His secondary systems came back on-line just in time for him to save the medic from capture and himself from destruction. The grateful medic carried the bisected droid to a Y-wing and the pair made it off planet.

For not leaving him, C5 began to call the young medic-turned-pilot "Master," and its effects were not lost on the man. The newly christened "Guardian" took the droid with him to Defender Wing, and the pilots and techs there rebuilt C5's chassis, and dubbed him "Cutter." Since Guardian's transfer to the Liberty, Cutter has followed, of his own free will.

Cutter's new chassis features a repulsorlift "bed" that begins at his waist. The bed allows him to hover over rough terrain, and makes him more maneuverable. Two extensions are capable of coming out of the "bed" to create a temporary stretcher capable of carrying a Wookiee. Several new additions have also been added to his body--other medical droid brains have been integrated under his own personality. Within one body, he is his own 2-1B surgical droid, as well as an MD-0 Diagnostic droid, MD-1 Laboratory Technician droid, MD-2 Anesthesiology droid, MD-3 Pharmaceutical droid, and MD-5 General Practitioner droid. Too boot, Guardian had a 1PO intelligence added, so Cutter can communicate with any patient.

Personality-wise, Cutter is a slow, patient automation. He takes care of any problem with a gentle, methodical approach that makes him easy to like, but frustrating to deal with at times. He calls everyone "sir" or "ma'am" except Guardian, who is "Master Adam." Guardian takes it lightly; he refuses to order Cutter around or demand preferential treatment--Cutter is his partner, more than anything.

M/FRG Honor Bound

Background:

Captain Pootala commands the Modified Frigate Honor Bound, a relatively recent addition to the Alliance fleet that was catured during the final stages of operation Full Force. The Honor Bound was actually used as a decoy ship in the final engagement and provided an adequate fighter screen which enabled the CRS Liberty to destroy several key Imperial targets. Despite suffering heavy damage during the final stage of operation Full Force, the Honor Bound has been fully refitted and restored back to operational status.

With two booms instead of the one on the standard Nebulon-B, it packs nearly twice as much firepower. Combined with Captain Pootala's aggressiveness and natural skill, the Honor Bound is a foe to be reckoned with. In large-scale engagements, Captain Pootala will often take his ship first into direct combat with Imperial capital ships, allowing the Liberty to deploy its fighter squadrons. The Honor Bound also houses one X-wing squadron, Skull, led by Major Samoc Farr.

Captain Viv Pootala

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Modified Frigate, Honour Bound.

Position Captain M/FRG Honor Bound
Technical Specialty None
Secondary Specialty Capital ship tactics
Side Arm BlastTech DL 44
Favorite Beverage Blue Stuff
Physical Description Duro male, age undeclared, 2 m tall, 120 kg

Bio:

Like many others who joined the Rebellion after the destruction of Alderaan, Viv Pootala was an experienced freighter pilot who ran the spaceways, dealing with corrupt Imperial customs cops and the occasional pirate attack. While pirating was more strictly controlled during the Empire than any other period of history, Viv deliberately chose the highest-risk routes between his destinations - basically, daring an attack and eager for the chance to hone his skills. Uncharacteristic for his species, Pootala's daredevil nature has enabled him to best even some of the most well-organized of pirate raids. These tactics have translated well to commanding capital ships, as he joined the Rebellion as a pilot on the FRG Vision. Here, he caught the eye of the Vision's commanding officer, Trevin Evert, as a precocious newcomer to the Rebellion. Evert was later reassigned to the con of the CRS Liberty, one of the legendary ships in the Alliance fleet. When word came down from High Command that a task force was being put together to be assigned to the newly commisioned Admiral Ra'kaat, Captain Evert recommended the young Duro that had impressed him at the helm of his previous command to captain the newly acquired warship.

Major Samoc Farr

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force; fleet protection.
Attached to Modified Frigate, Honor Bound.

Position Commanding Officer, Skull Squadron
Technical Specialty None
Combat Specialty X-wing Pilot
Side Arm BlastTech DL 44
Favorite Beverage Fermented Blotto
Physical Description human female, age 24, 1.4 m tall, 43 kg, red hair, green eyes

Bio:

Bio: Samoc and her older sister Toryn joined the Rebellion in their early twenties and excelled at their respective fields. Toryn became a sensor officer on General Rieekan's personal staff, while Samoc became part of Renegade Flight under the command of Commander Narra. Samoc distinguished herself as a fine flyer, mature beyond her years, and was soon granted the flight leader position in her squadron.

When a full-fledged Imperial force led by Darth Vader ambushed the major Rebel convoy travelling from Yavin to Hoth, Samoc distinguished herself in the battle even though the convoy was destroyed. She managed to bag six TIEs before getting the abbreviated message from Narra to flee. She jumped her X-wing out of the system and managed to hook up with the remaining Rebel forces at the base on Hoth, where she had an emotional reunion with her older sister. The rest of the convoy and her squadron was destroyed at Derra IV.

She checked out quickly on the Incom snowspeeders being adapted for the Hoth environment, and took a temporary posting in Rogue Squadron, under the command of Luke Skywalker, to fill an empty slot. Farr was part of the aerial assault against the Imperial AT-AT walkers at the Battle of Hoth. She flew on the wing of Lieutenant Tycho Celchu and was able to distract the walkers long enough for the Alliance command staff to escape, but was eventually shot down, heavily burned. The transport carrying her, Toryn Farr, and several other evacuees sustained damage in the escape attempt and was left stranded in orbit around Hoth, with only the presence of wreckage from other transports disguising theirs from the Imperial Star Destroyers blockading the world. It took a change of heart by the bounty hunters Zuckuss and 4-LOM to get the Rebels back safely to their own side.

After spending some time in recuperation, Samoc requested an posting to any open slots in the combat squadrons. However, impressed with her performance at Derra IV and Hoth, another surviving officer recommended her for command duty. Soon afterward she was given command of the newly-commissioned Skull Squadron aboard the Honor Bound, commanded by Captain Viv Pootala.

Once outgoing and sociable, Samoc's recent injuries and loss of her friends at Derra IV have turned her into an introvert. In combat, however, she still remains a highly competent and confident leader and pilot.

DREAD Insane Endeavor

Background:

The Insane Endeavor is a Dreadnaught, an outdated ship that was in its prime during the days of the Old Republic. While the more modern Star Destroyers would have little trouble with the Dreadnaught, it is still a formidable capital ship and in the right hands can still cause a great deal of damage. The Insane Endeavor was obtained as part of an operation led by then-Lieutenant Commander Rambo to obtain a particular Corellian transport, for the use of the ailing Green Leader, Bill "Outlaw" Bradley (see Tale: Outlaw's Ship for details). Colonel Rambo, now promoted to Rogue Leader and the head of Renegade Wing, came up with the idea to use the newly acquired Dreadnaught as a deceptive part of the task force. Its older-looking appearance lent itself to being disguised as a mercenary ship. Admiral Ra'kaat ran with this idea, and together with Colonel Rambo, commissioned Ghost Squadron, whose mission statement involved covert operations, infiltration, and information gathering as well as combat piloting. Darin Vansen, a former commando and independent rebel insurgent on his home planet of Totaria, was picked to lead the group and was given full rein in choosing pilots for the squadron. Ghost is assigned Y-wings and Z-95s only, to maintain the illusion of an unaffiliated merc group.

To command the ship, Ra'kaat wanted to find someone who could not only fight competently but also had the creative juices to maintain a charade such as the Insane Endeavor. It was a most difficult task, until one fortuitous day when he happened to mention it in passing to his old friend, Doctor Banarj, the Liberty's chief medical officer. He recalled treating one particularly crafty individual, a Gotal, who had professed a love for the theater while being treated for burns from an exploding console on a Corellian Corvette. Banarj referred Miyone Tellivar to Ra'kaat, and she showed enough fortitude and ability to be granted the con of the Insane Endeavor.

Commander L.D. Mackie

Currently assigned to Vigilant Task Force.
Attached to Modified Corvette, Nighthawk.

Position CO M/CRV Nighthawk
Technical Specialty Sensor analysis and combat tactics
Secondary Specialty Trained in anti-ship boarding combat tactics
Side Arm Service Blaster
Favorite Beverage A mix of Gfergï-Tjuva flower nectar
Physical Description human male, age: 29, height: 1,83 cm, weight: 178 lbs. black hair, gray eyes, usually has moustache and goatee.

Bio:

Born on Dantooine of a couple of middle-class workers, ( Gyrhen and Luhya Mackie) L.D. Mackie had a very dull childhood. So dull, in fact, that when reminiscing about his childhood, he points out that 'the grass on our lawn was always very long during the summer.'

To fill this void of much-needed adrenaline and excitement, he joined the Imperial Academy on Prefsbelt Four, where he trained to become a bridge sensor officer and tactical analyst. He was then nineteen years old. ( Nine years before the battle of Yavin.) He served under the command of several Imperial captains for the next eight years, eventually being posted onboard the mark-I VSD Iron Fist. It was during the posting of two years onboard this ship that made him finally see the evil that the Empire propagated.

Under the command of Captain Zsinj, several bridge officers were executed for 'gross incompetence', but in most cases made only one mistake at a very unfortunate time; when Zsinj was angry.

Every time it happened, Mackie questioned why he served the Empire at all, but it only came to him when he noticed the discrimination the Empire held for aliens. A transport with Sullustans and Eloms onboard had been intercepted by the Iron Fist, for no apparent reason.

Mackie had seen how the aliens had been brutally beaten in the brig and fully resented how they were treated. At his next opportunity for leave, he travels to the Outer Rim, where the new-founded Rebel Alliance is rumored to be and joins the Alliance.

The fact that his family was dead; his father had died of an unknown virus and his mother shortly afterwards, lifted the possibility that Empire might retaliate against him and his family, leaving him no regrets of joining the Alliance. He joins the Alliance at age twenty-seven and is posted onboard the FRG Juvaini as a sensor/tactical analyst on it's bridge.

During the next two years in his service to the Alliance, he is transferred to the Strike Cruiser Charlemagne as it's first officer and promoted to Lieutenant Commander. The Charlemagne was one of the CRS Independence's support ships during the evacuation of Yavin and was used as a convoy escort ship after Hoth. The period after Hoth was a strenuous period for the Charlemagne and it crew due to the loss of material and personnel at Hoth.

Finally, four months ago, L.D Mackie was promoted to the rank of Commander in the Alliance Naval Command and given the post of commanding officer onboard the newly captured and heavily altered Modified-Corvette NightHawk.

As a part of the CRS Vigilant's taskforce, he escorts the convoy's that will be supplying the Calamari Cruiser and it's ships and assists the Vigilant in large scale attacks when required.

(L.D. Mackie also invented a new tactic to use with his ship when dealing with Star Destroyers. The M/CRV proceeds at full speed alongside the Impstar, using it's unusually strong shields to survive the broadside blow and then places itself one kilometer ahead and under the Impstar, where few turbolasers are placed. With this technique, L.D. Mackie successfully distracted the ISD Venom, inflicting it significant damage and allowing his convoy to pass safely beside the ISD as he kept the gunner's of the Star Destroyer fully occupied in killing his ship.)

M/CRV Nighthawk

Background:

The Modified Blockade Runner, M/CRV NightHawk ( known under Imperial rule as the Victory Derra-IV ), was captured by Rebel Alliance forces during an joint military/intelligence operation. Onboard the Victory was thought, by Alliance High Command, to be information on the Empire's latest efforts to eliminate the Rebel Alliance. ( for information on this operation, read the Lounge tale : War-machine plans.)

Upon its return to the Liberty, immediately after being captured, the Victory was taken to the Alliance shipyards of Calamari. There it was disassembled, had its hardcore downloaded and sent to RADD ( Rebel Alliance Deciphering & Decryption ). It spent two months under the watchful eyes of the Calamarian engineers, who during this time refitted it with the shield strength of a typical Lorinar Strike-class Cruiser, added two Taim & Bak turbolaser batteries and two ASG-class ( Anti-Starfighter-Gun) laser cannons to the weaponry of the ship. Due to the quantity of refitting inside the starship, there is no hangar bay, the storage/cargo area is extremely small and the size of the crew quarters is greatly diminished.

The modifications of the corvette refine the possibilities of its missions to two classes : covert operations and the elimination of pirate bands in the Outer Rim. The modifications also restrain the autonomy of this ship. Due to the small interior, not many supplies can stored onboard and this creates a dependence on frequent re-supply missions.

During its repairs, Colonel Vince Stryker Rambo, then commanding officer of Renegade Wing submitted a request to Alliance High Command through Admiral Ra’kaat, commanding officer of the Liberty taskforce, asking for the transfer of the captured M/CRV, which was unnamed until then.

While the corvette was being sent to meet the Liberty, the new captain of the corvette, Cmdr. L.D. Mackie arrived and prepared to take his first military command. When it arrived, he watched it fly to the command ship, through the Liberty's bridge viewport. He described the short flight as, "As beautiful as the smooth gliding of a nighthawk". From therein comes the title of his warship.

And as the nighthawk, it can strike swiftly as well
