Rogue Squadron is comprised of the Alliance’s most skilled fighter pilots. The list of requirements to join Rogue Squadron is long and difficult, but once you gain membership you know you are the best. The pilots in Rogue Squadron are experienced in, and excel at all areas of space combat, and are dedicated to the overthrow of the Empire and the restoration of the Republic. They are hand-selected from the best the Alliance has to offer, not only for their piloting abilities, but also for their special talents, skills, and contributions to the Alliance. Rogue pilots also provide support and tactical assistance for other Alliance pilots. Rogue Squadron was designed to be a flexible unit, and therefore has no defined mission statement. This means Rogue Squadron's pilots must be skilled in many mission types; including diplomacy. No mission is too difficult for the pilots of Rogue. Rogue is often sent into situations normally believed to be impossible or suicide missions, and have a reputation for getting the job done. Rogue pilots fly a variety of starfighters depending on mission requirements, but the X-Wing is universally preferred for its versatility and flexibility. All of the following requirements must be met without exception for entrance into Rogue Squadron:
Future Rogues should send a single personnel file (zipped) to Rogue Leader and Rogue XO. This file should contain the following: XvT pilot file, character bio of no less than 250 words, and a short essay on why applicant wishes to join Rogue Squadron. If applicant has BoP add on, please send your BoP pilot file (located in BoP directory) as well as your XvT pilot file. Writing the character biography can sometimes be the most difficult aspect of completing the entry requirements to join a squadron. Please read the Vigilant's guide to writing bios for a helpful recommendation of bio dos and don'ts. Applicants that pass all of the above requirements will be granted an invitation to join Rogue Squadron. No applications will be accepted unless there is an opening in Rogue Squadron |

Pilot Bio Guideline (version 1.2)So, you've met the requirements for a squadron in Renegade Wing and are ready to join. Now, all you need is a pilot bio to complete your immersion into the Star Wars Universe. Having trouble with writing a background for your pilot? Well then, this guideline is for you. In it are the dos and don'ts of writing a successful pilot bio. Do:Try to be as original as possible. The galaxy Star Wars resides in is huge and the rebellion is full of many different individuals who at least all share in common the will to fight tyranny and oppression. Create your own planet, culture, or even species if it suits you, though try to keep it within reasonable limits(as discussed below). Though, if you want to use a "traditional" type planet, http://www.jimfisher.net/planet/ is a very comprehensive source. Have fun with your character and detail is also good. Your character will most likely be participating in one of many Point of View(PoV) stories so keep this in mind as well. Keep in mind of the time period and location of your writing. The setting is somewhere in the Outer Rim territories. We're out in the middle of nowhere and the pilots are on average from planets as such. The time we are in is somewhere between the escape at Hoth, and the Battle of Endor. Please keep your bios in this time period as it is very awkward to be out of time. For a good idea as to what to put in a pilot bio, and its general format, look at the different pilots bios in the "Quarters" section of the Vigilant. If you are still having trouble with your bio, feel free to ask current squadron members, some are very skilled writers and would be happy to assist you in writing a decent bio. If you would like someone to look over your bio for you, send it to either of the Liberty's LoreMasters, Guardian(AdamWander@aol.com) or Blindman(blindman1@jps.net). Don't:Here are a few things that you should try to avoid while writing your bio.
I hope this guideline will help you to write a fun, original pilot bio that you can be proud of. I look forward to seeing you as part of Renegade Wing soon. |
